NO PICK UP TODAY – First pick up will be June 12!

La Baraja Farm will not be able to make our first CSA pick-up day, originally planned to be this Thursday, June 5.

Instead, our first pick-up day will be the following Thursday, June 12.

We sincerely hope this has not caused any inconveniences. Of course, our CSA season will be extended by one week to make up for the loss, and our new final pick-up day will now be November 6, instead of October 30.

DEADLINE EXTENSION!

We will be extending the deadline to participate in this year’s CSA until Monday June 2, 2014! If you are still interested in becoming a member for this season, please place your complete Membership Agreement Form and check in the mail over the next couples of day so that we may receive it by Monday, June 2.

For full application details, please visit the “Membership” tab for access to the Membership Agreement Form.

Second to last CSA Meet-and-Greet TODAY!

We’ll leave you with this thought:

At least once in your life, you will need a doctor, a lawyer, an architect, but everyday three times a day you need a farmer.”

Welcome to the 2014 CSA season!

Hi friends, both new and old!

We are gearing up for our 2014 season! The Tierra Direct CSA is under new management this year, so please forgive us while we adjust to the changes.

You will find the new 2014 Membership Agreement Form–both in printable and online formats–in the “Membership” section.

This year the CSA will be running for 22 weeks. Unfortunately we are no longer able to use the Columbia Community Partnership for Health (CCPH) as our regular pick-up site, although we will be hosting meet-and-greet sessions at this location. The meet-and-greet sessions with be on Wednesdays April 9, April 23, May 7, and May 21 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the CCPH (at 390 Fort Washington Avenue in between 177th and 178th Streets, ground floor). You will be able to fill out or drop off completed Membership Agreements Forms as well as installment or complete payments at these times. Forms and payments may also be mailed–please see the Membership Agreement Form for details. All payments are due May 21, 2014 by 7:30pm.

For now, the CSA will be hosting pick-ups after the 175th Street Farmers market, on 175th Street between Broadway and Wadsworth. We are searching for an indoor location to host pick-ups from. Any new location that we select to host the CSA at will be within easy walking distance from both CCHP and the 175th Street Farmers Market.

For additional information, please see the below flyer and the 2014 Membership Agreement Form (found in the “Membership” section).

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or leads on a new indoor pick-up location, please email us at tierradirectcsa@gmail.com!

Thank you! We are greatly looking forward to starting the season and meeting all your wonderful faces.

Caylee Clay and Julio Marcial,

The new Tierra Direct CSA coordinators.

Cooking Demos: Learning to Cook with your CSA Veggies

Once the CSA season kicks off, we’re hoping to host some cooking demos, as we have done in years past, so that we can all share with each other some great ideas about how to make the best use of our CSA vegetables. Especially some of the unfamiliar ones! (Leek soup and beet salad, anyone?) So stay tuned for these events! In the meantime, here are some photos from a cooking demo we held at the Columbia Community Partnership for Health last fall to get your mouth watering:
